Services

 

Here's a little bit of information about our usual pattern of services. This may vary occasionally, most of all at special times of the year. For weekly service listings, please check our Special Events page.

 
 

St. Mildred's


 

Holy Communion

every Sunday at 8am

This service is traditional, with a quiet and reflective feel. There is a brief sermon, but no music or hymns. We share bread and wine. The service lasts for about half an hour, and it is repeated every Thursday at 11am. We stay for coffee on the third Sunday.

 

The Eucharist

every Sunday except the first at 9.30am

This service is less traditional, but still formal, and lasts for about an hour. There are hymns, music and a sermon, and we share bread and wine. We end with coffee and tea. Those who wish to can receive prayers for healing in a quiet space after the service.

 

Evensong

on the third Sunday at 6pm (4pm in the winter months)

This is a traditional service of hymns, music, readings, and a short sermon. The service lasts for just under an hour.

 

All-Age Worship

on the first Sunday at 9.30am

This is the service when young and old, and those in between, come together for an informal act of worship. There are songs and music. We begin with coffee, tea and bacon rolls. The worship follows at 9.50am and ends at 10.30am, when more coffee and tea (and any leftover bacon) are served.

 

The Eucharist

on the first Sunday at 6pm (4pm in the winter months)

This service is similar to the 9.30am Eucharist, but slightly shorter. There are hymns, music, and shorter sermon, and we share bread and wine. 

 
 
 

St. Michael's


 

Holy Communion

on the second and fourth Sundays at 8am

This service is traditional, with a quiet and reflective feel. There are no hymns or music. We share bread and wine. The service lasts for about half an hour, and it is repeated every Wednesday at 11am. 

 

Food for Thought

on the second Sunday at 10am

This is a topical and informal act of worship, which begins with bacon rolls, tea and coffee. The pattern varies each month, but there are songs and music. The worship follows at 10.30am, ending at 11am with more coffee and tea.

on the first and third Sundays at 10am 

This service is less traditional, but still formal, and lasts for about an hour. There are hymns, music and a sermon, and we share bread and wine. We end with coffee and tea.

 

All-Age Worship

on the fourth Sunday at 10am

This is the service when young and old, and those in between, come together for an informal act of worship. There are songs and music. The service ends at 10.40am and coffee and tea are served.

 
 

St. John's


 

Matins

on the first and third Sundays at 11.15am

This is a traditional service of hymns, music, readings, and a sermon. The service lasts for about an hour and is followed, on the first Sunday, by wine and nibbles.

on the second and fourth Sundays at 11.15am 

This service is traditional. There are hymns, music, a sermon, and we share bread and wine. The service lasts for about an hour.
